We arrive later than sunset. “Storm Desmond” was raging in Whitley Bay and caused a few issues with packing the car… We expected things to get worse in deep north Northumberland, but the weather on arrival in Beadnell is slightly less tumultuous than we were led to expect. We get here as the last light of the day dims, with Christmas lights to greet us by the fish & chip shop on Harbour Road. A rabbit pelts across the road – defiant offspring emerging from the myxomatosis cull of Spring.
The storm is rising, the winds getting strong again. “Severe weather warning” says the Met Office. A wintry welcome.
