When we first started thinking about A Year in Beadnell, our working title was “The Listening Post”. These audioworks are a selection of field recordings, sonic poems and choral works. Here you can listen to our sonic encounters with environment, as well as to some human vocal contributions in which we invite others to become a part of “the isle… full of noises” (with reference to Caliban in Shakespeare’s The Tempest).
Sunset in three locations – sonic poem
The Monarch Letter – fluttering bits of life (voice recordings)
The rising – tern colony field recording
Under the Sea-wind – voice chorus
Waveform – Beadnell beach field recording
Seasonal rounds – collaborative poem
Bird hide triptych – Newton pool preen
